Mr. Speas is an Executive Vice President of Westwood Capital, focusing primarily on international clients of the firm. He has extensive experience in providing financial and strategic advisory services to clients and structuring both cross-border and local capital markets financings.
Prior to joining Westwood, Mr. Speas was with Citigroup for ten years as an investment banker in the Global Special Situations/Global Securitized Products businesses. At Citigroup, he structured billions of dollars of securitization and structured bond transactions in numerous asset classes and industries. His initial focus was the US markets, where he structured tailored securitization financings for financial institutions and consumer asset originators. Mr. Speas then focused on emerging markets, executing financings for issuers domiciled in nearly every sizable Latin America/Caribbean country. He has also covered other international markets such as South Africa, Eastern Europe, non-Japan Asia, and Turkey, where he arranged over a billion dollars in financing for top tier financial institutions. Most recently he originated and underwrote debt and equity transactions on a principal basis and represented the company’s interest as a board member. Prior to joining Citigroup, Mr. Speas worked with UBS and Smith Barney.
Mr. Speas received an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BS in Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
