Francisco Basterrechea
Mr. Basterrechea has more than five years banking experience, primarily in corporate finance and principal investments. At Westwood, he is a member of the emerging markets team and is focused on corporate advisory and structuring in Latin America.

Prior to joining Westwood, Mr. Basterrechea was an associate in Citigroup’s Special Situations group, where his primary focus was private equity investments in emerging markets finance and infrastructure companies. Mr. Basterrechea has worked on principal transactions, structuring and managing investments across the target companies’ capital structures, from senior and subordinated debt to preferred and common equity.

Prior to Citigroup, Mr. Basterrechea worked in JPMorgan’s London office and focused on M&A advisory in the Financial Institutions Group. He began his banking career at a local corporate bank in Central America, focusing on structured finance, covered bond and corporate finance transactions.

Mr. Basterrechea received an MBA with a specialization in Finance and Entrepreneurship from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Del Valle in Guatemala.
